Choi Hung Estate, one of the oldest public estate cluster in Hong Kong, is famous for its rainbow coloured walls and elements in the area. Not only the name of the building are created with the colours of rainbow, the streets inside the estate cluster follows the same naming pattern. The name of the seven streets in the estate, as well as their meaning are as follows:
Hung Mui Avenue (紅梅路): Red Plum Road
Chang Fa Avenue (橙花路): Orange flower Road, a lexical ambiguity here, which may means "flower of organe" or "flower with orange colour"
Wong Kuk Avenue (黃菊路): Yellow Chrysanthemum Road
Luk Lau Avenue (綠柳路): Green Willow Road
Ching Yeung Avenue (青揚路): Cyan Populus Road
Lam Chung Avenue (藍鐘路): Blue Bell Road, "blue bell" is referring to Cyananthus hookeri in Chinese
Tse Wai Avenue (紫葳路): Purple Flourish Road, which is referring to Bignoniaceae in Chinese
This naming pattern drew our attention and we tried to imagine the appearance of the plants that the name of the road indicated. We then depicited what we have in our head, along with the noise like those in the televisions, in order to mamic the vague images while we were trying to recall the shape of those plant.
